“I absolutely love how soft these wipes are! My pet peeve when it comes to buying stuff for my little one are how harsh some products are especially when it comes to wipes being too hard but these wipes are so soft and not drenched in product and making my 1 year old toddler squirm from them being too cold. 10/10 for sure!”

The NSF Organic Standard for Personal Care Products Containing Organic Ingredients defines both production and labeling requirements for personal care products containing organic ingredients. To become certified, the products undergo a thorough review by an accredited organic certifying organization to verify that the formulation contains at least 70 percent organic content by weight. It also has specific requirements for organic ingredient, material, process and productions specifications.
The Environment Working Group (EWG) has tracked chemical safety in consumer products since 1993. To earn the certification, products must not contain any EWG-designated ingredients with health, ecotoxicity and/or contamination concerns. Products also must disclose all ingredients, including any fragrances, which are then scrutinized by EWG scientists, toxicologists, chemists and epidemiologists.
The Coalition of Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) recognizes MADE OF for its Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals. CCIC consists of eight national animal protection groups that promote a single comprehensive standard to help make shopping for animal-friendly products easier and more trustworthy.

Also sometimes referred to as Octanohydroxamic Acid. This is a plant based amino acid that’s broken down from raw virgin coconut oil. Acts as a preservative to prolong shelf-life of products, so that it’s antimicrobial. This ingredient helps to prevent bacteria growth in babycare products. Used instead of parabens in some formulations.
A plant derived fat that acts as a natural skin conditioning agent. This is an ideal emollient for a baby’s skin. It also helps to boost absorption of other ingredients. A baby’s skin is left soft and not greasy. As a cosmetic solvent it helps break down other ingredients in babycare products to make them more stable.
As a natural emollient humectant that can boost moisture levels in baby’s skin, glycerin is in 90 percent of skincare products. Glycerin is produced from vegetable fat, and considered a three-fold alcohol. This is widely used in babycare for different items. After bathtime, glycerin will help replenish moisture levels in baby’s skin. Plus, it guards against dryness when applied through lotions and balms with an easy application.
A fatty acid that’s a mixture of glycerin and oleic acid from vegetable origins. It’s used mainly to emulsify babycare products for a protective barrier. An ingredient in our Organic Soothing Baby Wipes. Also helps to create slip and texture in lotions, creams, and balms. An ingredient that is considered a co-emulsifier when combined with other fatty acids like it.
This is a surfactant that helps products rinse away cleanly. That way there isn’t any residue left on your baby. Lauryl glucoside is derived from raw virgin coconut or palm oil. A common plant based product that’s widely used in babycare products. A foaming agent that conditions and cleanses well.
An emollient to soften baby’s skin. One that’s made out of pure vegetable oils. The oil itself is obtained by cold pressing of the plant. This one is composed of mainly fatty triglycerides. In general it’s a generic name of any expressed oils used in babycare products. Helps to prevent moisture loss and is completely odor and colorless.
From the aloe barbadensis plant. More commonly referred to as just “aloe vera” in ingredient listings. All aloe vera truly is, is the gum resin of the plant’s leaves. Grown without any pesticides. When used in babycare products, aloe is typically thought to hydrate. It also can act as an anti-inflammatory for skin irritations like diaper rash, and has antibacterial properties.
One of the most nourishing oils from the nut (kernel) of the argan tree. This is a tree which is indigenous to Morocco. High in rich and nourishing fatty acids, like oleic, linoleic, and palmitic acids. Argan oil is considered low on the comedogenic scale so it won’t clog pores in your baby. Plus, the absorption is fast to leave a non-greasy feel to the skin.
A species of plant from the Coneflower family. When extracted this is an additive which is used as a skin conditioner. Soothing and moisturizing, this is found in our Organic Soothing Baby Wipes. Also has a deeply pleasing sweet and floral scent that is natural and appealing to a baby’s senses. This is not derived from anything artificial or lab created.
A species of the plantain family that is native to Europe and central Asia. This extract is produced from the leaves of the plant. Soothing for chapped and irritation in skin. Can help prevent and treat diaper rash. This is the main reason why we utilize this extract as an ingredient in our Organic Soothing Baby Wipes.
A plant based skin conditioning agent. This ingredient is used in many babycare products. Also considered an emulsifier. Can make oil and water blend together more efficiently for ease of application. You’ll sometimes find this ingredient in sunscreens and lotions. In our products this ingredient is present in the Organic Soothing Baby Wipes only.
Glyceryl Caprylate is made up of glycerol and caprylic acid, both of which are derived from palm or coconut oil. The end result, Glyceryl Caprylate, is an emulsifier and skin conditioning agent. It is primarily used in the formulation of creams and lotions, moisturizers and other skin care products. EWG rates overall health concerns for this ingredient as low.
Below are the actual tests performed by an independent lab.
Click on each test to learn more or click "View Actual Test Result" to view the actual test.
A thorough ingredient review is performed by a certified and independent toxicologist of all ingredients in each of our Made Of babycare products. This is a standard desktop review performed when the line was curated. The goal is to make sure the full list meets regulatory requirements and safety standards set by the FDA for cosmetic or skincare products. This includes the following regulations according to the U.S. FDA, Food Drug and Cosmetics Regulations (21 CFR 73, 74, 81, 82, 250 & 700 to 740). All ingredients in each babycare product do comply fully with regulations. None were found to be prohibited or restricted.
An inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP/MS) test which ensures that there aren't any of the 8 heavy metals not allowed by the FDA. These are the following metals categories, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, lead, mercury, manganese, and nickel. High exposure to metals can lead to adverse reaction, which is why these are tested for extensively. The test itself uses a mass spectrometer to separate potential metal ions to determine their presence. None of Made Of organic babycare products contain any of the hazardous metals.
A complete risk assessment and safety test performed by a certified and independent toxicologist of all ingredients in each of our Made Of organic babycare products. This includes a Toxicological Risk Assessment (TRA) services for personal and homecare products, including; evaluation of toxicology of each chemical ingredient in the formulation used to manufacture the product. Each ingredient is then looked at for it’s hazard potential in relation to skin and eye irritation, otherwise known as skin sensitization or adverse reactions. The characteristic of each product are evaluated for intended use. Dermatological tests are also looked at for this safety assessment. There are five primary product safety frameworks available for consumer products as a part of this battery of testing.
This quality test is based on determining if microbial contamination will be a problem in each product. Bacteria and fungi testing is performed, as well as, yeast, mold, and testing for the absence of pathogenic germs. Performed on new products. This test is also conducted again after an “in-use period” to find out if microbial growth is going to occur over time when a product is used in a practical way. A form of antimicrobial testing to determine if a baby-care products preservative system is going to hold up to prevent contamination. A passing mark of excellence in these tests require that each product have less than 200 cfu/g present for all bacteria, yeast, and mold counts.
In determining that a preservative system will hold up in baby skincare products in topically used items, a testing period of time is used. This is after a 14 day incubation period where each substance is placed into an incubator. The bacteria growth, if any, is charted and needs to have no increase from day 14-28. Yeast, and mold should not increase either. For all of these microbes, the preservatives must actually reduce the count through this time frame in order to pass safety standards for preservative effectiveness.
In a lab testing setting, samples of each organic baby product is stored at specific temperature conditions. Stability is tested in relation to shelf life and expiration dates. The shelf life is the period of time you can rely on the product to perform as expected, without degrading or breaking down. When products are subjected to light and air, they can degrade normally over time. With stability testing, it’s up to the manufacturer to figure out how long each of their products can be expected to last and perform for the consumer. In organic baby skin care, the expiration date after opening is always labeled right on the package with a month designation of how long it will last after cracking the seal.
A designation that means “Repeat Insult Patch Test.” A test that helps determine if the babycare product will cause an adverse reaction. Otherwise known as the Shelanski Method. 50- 100 volunteers are used to perform this test. Induction patches are applied at specific time intervals to the skin, usually the inner portion of the arm, to determine if there is a reaction in the skin. Mainly this test is geared towards figuring out sensitization over multiple applications and repeated use.
An ion chromatography test is used by an independent or third party lab to determine the levels of sulfates present. This is a detergent and surfactant found in many personal care products. None of our Made Of organic babycare products contain any presence of sulfates. This test places the sulfate ions at a zero percentage rate in all of our products. A comprehensive analysis that lets the consumer know products are less likely to cause irritation or skin sensitivity.
The 26 allergens test encompasses a mass spectrometry test, using gas chromatography (GC-MS). The goal is to determine the presence of 26 fragrance allergens in babycare products. These 26 fragrance allergens have been banned by the European Union as potentially hazardous for use. Any products sold in Europe must be free of these substances. All of our babycare products are tested rigorously by an independent lab to make sure they are free of all these allergens and to create a better overall product.
Due to increased awareness of all kinds of nut allergies in adults and children. A nut test is performed by an independent lab to test the presence of any nut allergens. The test is a highly sensitive detection system called the AgraQuant Peanut Assay. A homogenized sample is used of each and every product. Levels must be lower than a .1 ppm. There also has to be zero cross reactivity with any type of nut products and not just peanuts.
An AgraQuant Soy test is utilized by an independent lab. This will determine if the presence of soy is in any of our babycare products. As a highly sensitive detection system, this will certified that all of our products are without soy by products. Soy has the potential to be an allergen for some people with sensitive is to it. A homogenized sample is used for each and every product. Levels must be at a certain standard to be considered soy-free. There also has to be zero cross reactivity with other allergies related to soy.
A paraben test using HPLC-DAD (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with Diode-Array Detection). This will determine the presence of parabens in all of our babycare products. Made Of doesn’t use parabens in our products period. This lab conducted test shows that no methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, isopropyl, isobutyl, benzyl, phenyl and phenol parabens exist in any levels in our products. Those are all the forms of parabens that could be present in personal care items.
